About Butter

About Butter
Hi!

Welcome to Butter Baking.

My name is Natasha. I am a newly-trained pastry chef and lover of baked goods.

I started Butter Baking in 2011. At the time, I was in my final year of university, studying Arts (Public Relations). I realised that PR was not for me, and all I really wanted to do was bake cake all day (and I don’t even like cake).

As soon as I made that decision, I threw myself into baking. I began blogging to keep track of all my recipes and to keep myself sane while I finished the last few months of my degree.

I went on to get a job at a cupcake shop, and as hard as it is to get up in the morning, I really enjoy doing the early morning bake.

I also enrolled in a patisserie course at culinary school, which I have since finished. I loved every single minute, and learnt so much from all of the amazing chefs.

If you’re interested, you can read my full story here.

Some things I love:
Baking. Cookies (preferably if they’re chewy). Cookie dough. Summer. Lychee martinis (or any martinis, really). Books. The beach. Chocolate. Mexican food. Making lists. Friends. Travelling. New York. Family. My (now huge) puppy. Ice cream. Pie. Beer. Suits (the show). Eating. Coffee. Freshly baked pastries.

I don’t like: Cooking. Cake (weird, I know). Long winters. Slow drivers. Spaghetti. Traffic. Frosting (also weird, I know).

Baking makes me ridiculously happy. So I hope you stay a while and enjoy my blog and my recipes! Expect lots of cookies and pies. And not so many cakes.

If you would like to contact me, please leave me a comment or send me an email to:
butterbaking [at] hotmail [dot] com. I’d love to hear from you!
You can also follow me on Facebook, Twitter, PinterestInstagram and RSS.

On a final note: Milk + Cookies = Happiness.

Happy baking!

PS. When I started this blog, I never imagined it would grow and blossom into what it has become today – I actually thought no one would ever read it.
But Butter Baking has surprised me and grown into something fantastic that I am extremely proud of, that I work very hard at, and that I absolutely love doing.
I love having you here to visit and adore hearing when you’ve tried out one of my recipes.

But please keep in mind – all of the photos and some of the recipes (unless otherwise stated) on Butter Baking are of my own hard work and creation and subject to copyright.
If you recreate one of my original recipes on your own blog, please, please give me credit and link back to me.
And if you would like to use one of my photos, please email me first to ask at butterbaking[at]hotmail[dot]com. I would really appreciate it :-)

Thanks for visiting! Hope you come back soon.

Natasha.

    • SOULA! Thanks for subscribing :-) I’m so glad you did! We ate those cupcakes together, remember?
Go and buy a measuring cup and kitchen scales and you won’t need to convert anything! As a quick tip, 1 stick of your butter = 110g (grams). And from now on I’ll try and include ounces for you!

I adore you blog and am blown away by your beautiful pictures. What kind of camera do you use and editing software?

    Keep up the incredible work!

    • Hi Farrah! Thanks so much for the compliments :-) I use a Canon 550D and don’t really edit my photos; sometimes I adjust the contrast. I find it has more to do with lighting than editing, but I love my camera and highly recommend it!

Keep your passion! Success isn’t necessarily defined by $, but those that are the most financially successful are doing what they love and have a passion for! Good luck preparing for your own bakery…sounds like you’ve got your head stuck on right! Enjoy your journey…I’m going to keep reading and trying your recipes…and when I get to Melbourne, I expect you to have your own bakery!

  15. Donna

So many wonderful things to bake Natasha, I can’t decide which ones to do first, I want to make them all in one day. Just love your blog.

Well Natasha, I am going to start off with the Whoopie Pies (nutella and cream), then onto the Nutella Croissant Pudding, finishing with Tiramisu. I have a family get together so want to impress….should do the trick I think. I also need a savoury rice/vegetable dish to go with bar-b-cued meat if you know of anything thats tasty but simple to prepare.

    • Oh the Nutella croissant pudding is amazing! You can make it a single large one if you like, too. And the tiramisu is usually a crowd pleaser.
As for a savoury dish with the meat, potato salad is great; boiled potatoes, finely chopped pickles, olives and sundried tomatoes, finely diced and fried bacon and onion, some shallots and a dressing made from mayonnaise, seeded mustard and lemon juice, to taste. YUM! Enjoy the get together :-)

I found your wonderful blog during a web search for Biscoff spread as my dear friend Christine in the USA (Texanas Kitchen on WordPress) recently spoke about Biscoff and I was trying to source it here in Australia. Your blog and recipes are great btw. Amazing! Also, I noticed you have the same green provincial dinner plates as I do. Small world. :-)

    • Hi Lance! Yeah Biscoff isn’t something you can get here unfortunately :-( get her to send you some!
Thanks for the kind words! Haha it is a small world, I love those plates! :-)
